For the past several years I have started out with many fishless trips.

Last year I went 11 times for my first fish.

This year I have went out 4 times and no fish.

I think I will start waiting on May to fish!

Hey Jack .... I know the feeling you are having .... Myself being in an area I haven't fished for over 30 years and half of the old fishing places now gone for one reason or another ... I have decide to spend most of the nice days we are having to fishing for bait to freeze and doing some scouting for spots and more bait.

Today for example my brother and I took a walk down memory lane to some of old fishing grounds as kids and found a place I can go with a cast net and get some shiners, carp and suckers. Of course it wasn't like hauling in a big one, but it was enjoyable and productive. Maybe getting older is helping me slow down and not get overly excited and rush into more frustrations .... Garry- :eek:oooh:

    Jack,

If it's flatheads, maybe waiting until May is good idea. Maybe targeting channel cats just get you a fix? That's what I do until I can get my hands on a flathead. Or target another species, I would give my left nut to be able to live around waters with gars and bowfins.

That's ok I've been about 10 to 12 times this year, and only caught 1- 5 lber. So I feel your pain. Watched several people pull out 8-10 lbers. It's all about location, and that's not where I'm at. lol
