I have been thinking about adding another baitcaster this spring or summer, I am looking at a 6000 or 6500. I already have a Abu 5000 One Series and a Abu 6000, I love those reels. So maybe another 6000 will suit me.

What is the largest fish you brought to the boat with your 6000? I just purchased one but have not used it yet, I was wanting 2 but Wally World only had one left so I also purchased their Shakespeare Deepwater reel, it was only $35.00 I didn't realize it but once I got them both home and side by side the Shakespeare is twice the size, was wondering how the Abu will bring them in compared to the larger Shakespeare?

I caught my personal best flathead 33.5lbs with my 6000.It was the first baitcaster I bought and I still use it a lot.A little bit of TLC and it'll last forever.
I have to say I prefer my 6500's over the 6000's but their both great reels!!!

I've landed several 25-40 lbs fish on both 6000 & 6500C3's. Don't let the a size of the reel fool ya.

The 5500 even is a fine reel. It'll handle up to 30 lbs or more with no trouble. Just not as much line capacity and won't handle line over about 25 lbs as well. I'm doing well with 20 lb on mine, though.

the 6500 will support 30 line mono easily and will hold everybit of 125 yards too.

throw a 6500 on a good 10 foot casting reel and 20 lb line will tame almost any cat in open water.... casts real slick too.

i use 30 because i tangle cover and i dont need the line capacity of smaller line.

for the size, a 6500 just may be the baddest lil reel you can find.

this lil reel has caught numerous 30-45 lb flatheads

I have a 600 and a couple 10000's they are all great. After using them last summer I don't think I will ever buy anything else.
