That is amazing! wish they gave a pic too. I would like to know the date on it though, but understand not wanting to damage it.

i found a catfish bone awl digging around in the sand and mud along the sacramento river. Its fossilized and in good shape. definitely was used to punch holes in something... its been worked and shaped also found a nice indian grinding stone a travel type in granite which was a ways from granite rocks in the sierras. I would love to see that hook too wish they had apic!!

I too would love to see a pic of that hook. I have always enjoyed searching for and finding arrowheads and indian artifacts.

    Thanks for sharing the story!

I don't feel so bad about losing hooks so often, now. Seems as though that has been happening to catmen for some time now.
Ken, why did you put that hook in the sand, back in your younger days? LOL
