has anyone ever tried anchovies as bait?

Anchovies are very popular bait here both in the canals, lakes, and river. Catfish love em and all the bait stores sell em too. I have a friend that only uses frozen anchovies for bait and he always catches fish. I'm not that good with them as they can get mushy when they start to thaw out and then they come off the hook easily. He just keeps a fresh one on and changes it every 20 to 30 minutes. He keeps them on ice when he goes out and refreezes any he has left over with good results.

Hey Cliffey, Ill be sure to bring some anchovies. Every time I go saltwater fishing, I always have alot left over. Fresh dead work the best in my opinion. For saltwater fishing We always get live anchovies ans sardines.
