I received this in email, and even though my car is not a new enough model to HAVE a remote/panic button, I thought I'd pass it along for those of you that do have one.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around...after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there....this is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or prevent a sexual abuse crime.

What a great Idea Tanya. Thanks for passing that along. If you have remote start you could start it up also. Then just buy one of those blue lights and a siren and hook it up and presto instant FUZZZ.I am going to pass this along to the support groups for the stay behind wives of the deployed Marines.Never would have thought of that. :smile2: :eek:oooh:

Tanya that is a neat idea. I have been involved with security most of my life and have traveled to a lot of security training programs, this idea is one of the best ever mentioned. Thanks for sharing. I will pass this on.:0a24: :0a24: :0a31: :0a31:

great idea Tanya ,never thought of that on another note I heard that if you lock your keys in your car you can call your spouse on your cell phone an have them hold the remote next to the phone while you hold the phone close to the drivers door and it will unlock it .I tried it and it does work.

That's a great idea....maybe the horn would muffle the sounds of gunfire.
