alton area blue

    ill be heading down to alton in a few weeks, does any body get blues in shallow water, or are they always in the main channel deep, ill be on the bank, right there at louis and clark

    I think you'll find some deep holes accessible from the bank if you scout around a bit. You can find blues shallow but night fishing is best for that, at least on the river in my experience.

    You can find them at the Lewis and Clark site. I assume you will be fishing where the river meets the canal. I have also heard the canal is a good spot. Anywhere around the Melvin Price Dam is just about as good as it gets for us bank fishermen. The Missouri or Illinois side. I would check out water levels before you make a trip. The river is starting to look exactly like it did last year. Right now you cannot get to the dam from the Missouri side. The road is flooded. Good luck.

    the river is up but it is actually not that bad right now smooth and not to much stuff out there, that is before the rain
