I am almost ready to buy new catfish reel to replace my Shakespeare that went out, I am debating weather to get another Abu 6000, or a 6500 C3 or 6600.

6500C3 gets my vote. If you can, get the 6500c3 Pro Rocket, but you can't go wrong with the silver 6500C3. Good luck.

You won't be sorry if you go with the Abu 6500 C3. I have 3 and I love them!!! I want a couple more also. They work great and last forever! Just clean, oil and grease them and they'll last a lifetime! Well worth the price!!!

I would get a good used 6000. Its just for cats, you won't be casting that much. Then you can use the saved money for a good rod.

But I do have a 6500, besides my 6000s, and I really like it also.

Wow, they are a nice reel! But I would be afraid of getting it dirty! LOL

Shimano tekota 600! It's about the size of a 7000.

CJ, my 6500's out cast my buddies 6000's every time. I've even put bearings in a couple of their reels after they felt how smooth mine are. I've never met a 6500 I didn't like! Fish on! Doug

    Cj,
I think either way you go, you will be fine. both the 6000 and the 6500c3 are excellent reels in my opinion. Both will last a long time if you take care of them. Good luck with whatever you decide. rspd507
