I can't buy a biggin around here, the little ones and gar beat them to it....I did catch 2 gar today.. we saw A LOT of them right off the bottom in 20 ft of water. Had several other suspected gar bites. Sure makes it hard on the bait bucket.

It can be difficult to keep live bait when the gar really get going. Fishing at night seems to help with the gar and also using bigger bait. I'm going to be using live bullheads tonight. Usually the gar leave the bullheads alone. Not always though.

Mike get some worms and fish them in the river while your catfishing. You outta be able to catch a carp and they are great cut bait!

The gar are a real pain to deal with fishing live bait. I have caught them on 8" bullheads. Had a 12 incher on a limbline make it long enough for a 20 pound flathead to eat it last week, and you could see it in his belly! :crazy:Unfortunately he died from that meal, and had to be cleaned before his comrades:smile2:

every time i fish the weir on the kaw I get a big hit and let the pole bend a bit go to set the hook and there is nothin there but big teeth gashes in my bait! Stupid gar, put up a good fight if you can hook one though.:embarassed:

I tried Wyandotte lake but couldn't get any decent bites on worm n bobber.

Didn't do that good last night.Caught a whole bunch of small channels.Needed to cover more area but the guy I went fishing with was to lazy.Stayed to about 3.I'm about to start fishing alone so I can cover more area and fish longer. .Bout to go back out at 1.After I buy a net.
