Finally figured out why the cats weren't biting, reason being was because at the resevoir I was going to, a lot of people went fishing there and the cats were hardly ever hungry so they were pretty much just tasting the bait.

We were getting ready to go home yesterday, when we decided to go to a different resevoir in that same area. Five minutes after the first cast, I started getting powerful bites.

Two hours and 4 pounds of chicken liver later, this is what we ended up going home with...

They ranged between 1 to 4 pounds and yes, we caught that carp on chicken liver.

Turned out that hardly anybody ever goes fishing in that resevoir, so the fish were really hungry.

Thanks, I rather eat the carp than give it to the fish:wink:

What I have next on the agenda is Flathead fishing, probably the Alamo or New River, but I need to gather some info on good spots and techniques and all that stuff

Brother....Go over to the California section. There is an Alamo River thread. Jump right in and start a new post. Desertcatrat is always fishing the alamo. Bluehunter knows alot about that area as well. Keep fishing:wink:

if youre going to a new spot, i would suggest drifting. its pretty effective to finding em. if you dont have a boat, i would just cast out wherever.

Well, back at last, got to the place at 5am, hooked one on a bobber with shrimp in about 15 mins, caught 12 in about 3 hours, all between 2 and 3 pounds
