I have a fishin buddy that is stoned outa control! He just can't stop buyin fishin gear. The twisted logic used to justify each purchase is really out there. For example: "I had to get the new reel cause the one I've been usein is outa style!" Or, the handle on this one was much nicer than on the reel I have. LOL! Then of course ya gotta get the new rod to go with it. LOL!

Hes outa control and needs our help! LOL!

Now George, are you sure it is not you that your referring to? I know I have an addiction, but I justify my purchases by saying I used to smoke 8 cartons of cigs per month, at appx $20.00 per carton. That is $160.00 or almost the price of an Abu Garcia 7000HSBG reel. So, I will buy the reel or a couple of 16' surf rods...whatever I want. LOL

Lawrence I like your logic. You shook the evils of smoking and are applying the days you've gained by quitting to a better habit. Good deal.

    OCFD

    ObsissiveCompulsive Fishing Disorder

    Or it's the dreaded

    TBD

Tackle Buying Disorder. This can be stoped but if it continues it will turn into
the first mentioned OCFD to which there is no cure just treatment. A life long neverending treatment.

Heres my twelve steps for buying this AWSOME NEW REEL:

    1) I don't have a problem!!!!!

    2) I needed this sweetheart of a reel!

    3) The handle fell off my old reel!

    4) The drag on my old reel wasn't working properly!

    5) This new reel holds more line!

    6) It has an ergonomic design!

    7) When I was in the store it "spoke to me"

    8) I had to make a choice, food or reel, I made a fisherman's choice!LOL

    9) This new reel will last a lifetime!

    10) I already had the perfect rod to match this reel!

    11) It has a sweet free spool feature, like no other!

    12) Don't tell my wife!!! LOL

I am setting here in my puter room looking at 2 Abu 6000 I have put line on, 1 Abu 7000BGHS I haven't even put line on yet and a Bass Pro Quantum reel. I also see 3 boxes of line and 4 spools of 20 lb test big game. There are a bunch of 5 oz sinkers, 3 hand held cb radio's and 1 q-beam spot light I have yet to use. In my garage is 3 16' poles with abu 7000's. 2 15' poles with abu 6000's, 3 12' poles with 6000's, 2 - 10 poles with abu 5000's, 2 - 8' poles with 6000's, about 4 other abu reels, plus my bass poles, reels, and tackle boxes. Don't tell me it does not pay to quit smoking.

Ok, you fella's have it all wrong. Those excuses he uses are just to hide the fact that he's nothing more than an antique dealer.

Someday that fishing equipment will be out dated and very collectable.

I see nothing more than an investment oppurtunity there.
