Academy sports rods

    I have seen some rods up at academy, there like 12 dollars, has anyone used them, are they any good

    They are cheap rods. They'll work for a while, but don't expect a long life from them. Usually, those rods don't have many guides, the windings aren't all that great, the guides are of low quality, and the blanks not the best. Other than that, you can catch fish on them.

    Marshall, I recently picked up 4 rods at Academy...2 ea, Pinnacle Lexus rods with seven guides and are medium heavy rods price $14.00 each,.... excellent rods also picked up 2 ea, Berkly Lightining rods Medium Heavy with seven guides each on them, Price $15.00 each...Go with your gut feelings on tackle and really dig thru them stacks of rods...You can find what you want...And the Local Wal-mart here finally came down on there ABU 7000's got one for $60.00 Oh what a happy day I waited for a long time for them to finally drop the price on them........
