I thought I'd show these physical comparison pics of some of the more popular sizes of Abu's.

    The Horizontal picture, shows a 6500,7000,9000,and, a 10000

The Vertical picture shows from the bottom, the 6500, 7000iC3, 9000i, 10000BG.

The 9-10K reels are the same diameter. The second picture shows the difference in width between the 9-10K ..
also, the 7000 is wider than the 9000, but, smaller diameter.

and, Everybody knows about the 6500's.. !!!

There are some other model configuration differences, if anyone's interested,I can show some of those as well.
    Thanks, Greg

Good post! I had a abu 10000 once got rid of it quick, not to say it was not a fine reel, just much more than I needed.

I can handle 50-lb flatheads just fine with the 6500 class reel....I would use the 7000's more, but I just cant get the casting distance from them as I can with a 6500.

Nothing says fine fishing like Abu Garcia.

this really is a great post, it has really helped me in trying to make a descision on what reel to buy next. like we talked in PM, i have a hard time choosing because the places near me dont usually carry many of the ABU's over 6600

Yeah, Snagged2 started a good thread here.

Hey flathunter, you say the 7000's don't cast as well as the 6000's?

I have had both 7000's and 6500's the 6500's work great for everything here in New Mexico so far but the 7000 is nice to have just in case. Really good information on this thread take care and God Bless.
