With so many of our members getting the Social Security increase, that reel should be gone. I have 5 or 6 just like that and they are a workhorse. It does need some cleaning and oil is almost always a good thing. Parts are still available with good prices and you can get new carbon fiber drag disks from Smooth Drag for 9 or 10 dollars.

Abudoc, a great member we had has an excellent maintenance tutorial on this site showing how to disassemble, clean and re-lub there Abus. Even stated what oils or grease were best for different components on the reel.

These are great channel cat reels but will also bring in 50# plus fish also.

Reel arrived today. I gave it a quick bath and pulled the handle side cover off to give it a look over. That soapy water cleaning made it look like new. I am heading to Tennessee at midnight tonight, so I will wait until I get back to do a total cleaning and re-lubing.

Too bad some of those younger guys didn’t jump on this. It is basically a new reel at well under half price.
