Is $66 brand new in box a good price for the ABU Garcia 6600 bcx red? I saw this reel today in the local px for this price, didnt wanna purchase it until I checked with the abu specialist. Never used one and wanna see what all the fuss is about

Dont get it, it is the worst reel abu garcia has ever made, lots of problems.

I would spend 10 bucks more and get a 6500c3

well after reading the reviews in alot of threads I'll pass. It seems to be the bottom of the line model of abu. I hate cheap stuff, i bought a couple baitcast 2000s and I wish I hadnt. I normally go with my gut feeling and get something anyway due to me usually picking a good apple out of the bunch I was gonna buy a Penn 320GT2 today and a abu 6600bcx but I'll just try a GT2 and either an okuma baitrunner or another okuma baitcaster. Thank you Gentleman

I got one on an impulse buy before reading anything about it. I don't really like it.

I kinda like the two I've got:sad2: After all the negative remarks I have have gotten the only two decent ones. I would still rather have the 6000 but I don't mind the two that I have.

As much as I hate to admit it I would have to agree, better look at something else. I have one and it cast great, rels strong but it's a devil to get the baitclicker on and off, so I am sure before too long it will land up breaking. I have been a die hard Abu guy but the 6600bcx hasn't lilved up to the other Abu reels I have.

I was gonna get it anyway because I dont really use my clicker much, I just use bells and circles tight lined. But I bought the 320GT2 seems like a beast, gonna put 100 yds of 30Big game and 200 yards of 65 power pro and see what I can do. I still will be purchasing another reel it will either be the 6600bcx, the h65 Okuma baitrunner, a penn 302 or an okuma baitcaster, still havent decided, I may just due the bairunner, it is a massive spinning reel and it hold 500 yds of 15 i believe

I really liked the Penn 320GT I saw at BPS. If I could have lived without the instant anti-reverse, I would have strongly considered it over my Abu 7000. Sounds like you like it pretty well, so I'd pick it up and put the rest of the money you were going to spend on the second reel in a coffee can, then save up another $40 for either a second Penn or a nicer Abu.

    That's just me, though.

I just don't like where the button is on it. I like the place on the 6500c3 much better. I thumb the line as kind of a second drag and using the 6600bcx I have accidentally hit that button and caused some issues.

i have one and havnt had any problems with it, i think its hit and miss with them, ive reeled in a 36/27/22lbers. this season on the Abu 6600bcx with no problems and handle it fairly well, i do have a buddy who has one and started horsing a 30+lber in and bent the spool, why he was trying to horse it in who knows, but it was his own fault the spool bent...

Thats a good Idea, I already went earlier today and got the 320GT2 spooled with 50 yds of 25lb mono and 200 yds of 65 power pro and will try that one tonight. I will save the money and either get a Penn 309, another Okuma 450CL or I think I might try search ebay for a 7000 abu. Thank you guys again

The BCX series is crap. Spend the extra money on a C3. A good Ambassadeur is a lifetime investment. I've got some that are nearly 40 years old and are still running strong. All I've had to do is oil them periodically and clean them every couple of years.
