16 years ago my wife and I moved from Michigan to the hills of Mid Tennessee. We bought 55 ac at the end of a dead end road, the guy next door was 1/2 mile from our door. His brother lived next to him and his sister lived in the next house.Fin, the guy next door was a thin man, ( maybe145 lbs) and about 6 ft. tall. We would see him working in his garden with his bibs on and no shirt taking down the weeds with a cyckle (sp). He looked like father time.As the years passed we became good friends I would sitin his years under a big tree drinking Muskadine wine and he would just sit there with a big grin and tell stories about making shine and how the whole hollow would smell of burnt hickery and shine. As the years went on Fin couldnt walk the woods any more but that diidnt stop him, he went and bought a 4 wheeler.you could hear him at dawn shooting turkeys with his 22 mag as they nested. He did things his own way. (the old way). Well today the 4 wheeler runs no more.Fin passed last night at 88. His grave will be "up by the old Buick Looking over the hollow." Im going to miss Fin but I have met a piece of Lewis county history. smokey

Joe, Sorry to hear about your friend .
Reminds me of a Lynyd Skynyrd song, "Curtis Loew".

Sounds like he lived a good life.
