Went out last night and took three people that have never fished the big rivers. I've been doing really well here the last few weeks and felt confident enough that I figured I could get them into some good fish. We went to the Melvin Price Dam and fished for some skippies and goldeyes for a couple hours, that fishing was pretty slow and to be honest with ya, it had me a little worried that the cats would be a little slow that night. Anyway we finally anchored in around 9:30 and by 9:50 my guest's pole took a dive for the water!! I tell you what, you would have thought he was in a tug of war with a semi truck!! About 20 minutes later the beast surfaced and showed it's face...then he was safely in my net!! A FORTY THREE POUNDER!!!! His first catfish EVER and he already beat my personal best!! About 25 minutes after the 43lber was in the boat, my other guest landed his personal best catfish, a 14 pounder!! After the 14lber, I landed MY NEW PERSONAL BEST, A FORTY POUND GODDESS!!!! We then fished another few hours and caught several other fish ranging in weight from 12-20 pounds!! At the end of the night, we told ourselves, "25 minutes and we'll call it a night" with five minutes remaining, my girlfriend landed her new personal best catfish! Weighing in at a staggering 11 pounds!!! Needless to say last night will be a night I'll remember along time. I was really glad to get a few more people interested in this spectacular sport! I'm also proud to say that ALL fish were CPR'd and some pictures of the nights catches are attached. All fish were caught on goldeye filets and cut skippies, fishing below the dam!
