86 Mercury

    I have an 86 90hp Mercury,i'm changing the inner and outer"line cutter"seals,and the parts I got, the outer diameters are diferent the outer seal is a little bigger and I cant get it in,got the inner one right in.Called the guy back at the parts store and he says thats the only one it calls for.Any suggestions?:confused:

    Put it in the freezer and freeze it and then try it.

    I would question the part. Take some calipers and measure the OD and then compare it to the book. I have gotten parts that were either in the wrong box or not quality checked before packaging.

    After-market parts are questionable, such as Sierra. Merc is usually pretty good if you've got someone that can decipher the way merc catagorises, and that takes some schooling.
