I think he just don't know the difference between catfish species. Maybe he calls all catfish channel cats.

Where are you pointing to the conversation. I know those three on the boat and I don't think I ever heard one of them call it a channel.

My Bad I went to youtube and found what you were talking about.

You guys can argue about what ever you think, but I was the camera man on that cold February morning and that is one of our staff that caught that Blue catfish and her name is Kristine Burke. She was one of the happest person that I have seen in a long time. The river is the Cumberland River about half way between Dover and Cumberland City, Tennessee. And she lost this one, and I would estmate that it more than 50 lbs. just to set the record straight. :cool2: :cool2:

They are discussing the World Record Channel Cat!

They are not referring to Kristine's catch.:smile2:

If there was an 80lb channel cat I wouldn't be surprised if it was thrown back with the angler thinking they just landed a trophy blue.

Jason is right. The world record came from Lake Moultrie in South Carolina in July 1964. weighing in at 58lbs. at 47 1/2 inches long. Although anything is possible, most experts agree this will never be broken.

Yeah, I know a fellow who lives on a medium size creek that's loaded with brown bullheads about 10" to 18" and he swears they're channel cats. The tail is the first dead giveaway. The brownie will sometimes develop spots, but they don't look anything like spots on a channel. BTW, this is a good clean creek I'm talking about, and I like the taste of the bullheads better than the channels out of the lakes.

I haven't checked the comments on those videos in a long time. Guess I better go have a look.

Hopefully I'll have something better for them to talk about when I catch that one and get it in the boat next month.
