That would make a lot of good cut bait. Or you could use a concrete block to hold him to bottom... Cool pic!

That is a dandy Red Horse by any standard. I fish suckers every Spring, but have never caught one that big.

I have used some big suckers for bait but nothing like that. Could you imagine trying to cast that thing.

Yeah casting that bait might be a problem. When I worked for Missouri Department of Conservation we shocked (electrofished) a 56 lb flathead that had a 11 pound common carp hanging out of its mouth. So, Big bait can equal big fish.

last year the little flatheads kept eating my giant bait.I was catching 14-15" flatheads on 12" fall fish. Its amazing how large of prey they can consume. As far as casting oversize bait.I put my rod in the holder flip the bail and chuck the bait as far as i could.I never got a bite on a 20" channel cat but it sure felt cool useing one for bait

    Gee Dink,
Isn't it a little cold to be noodling for suckers? Where did you catch this behemoth?

How can you tell the difference between that and a common carp? I would cut it up and cube it

Dink, toss him in a small pond and bring him to the gathering. Thats a perfect size bait for a Muskingum river flathead.

Are you serious? A 6lb fish whole for bait?
