I bought the Abu 6000 combo last night at the Super Wal Mart and the rod seems much better than what usually comes on Wal Mart combos. I'll be using this rod as a backup rig, so it would be nice if I didn't have to spend $40 extra for a rod. Will the lightning rod hold up to the beating big channels and flatties can put on it?

so far i really like mine... however, i havent fought anything over 10 - 12 #s with it yet. i think it was probably more designed for a bass rod, but it seems to do fine so far.

I would agree. I have had one of these for about 2 years now and it has been great. I have caught several channel in the 10# range and a bunch of carp that were about the same size and real fighters. So far it has held up very well.

The rod was designed for a bass rod. However it will work great for channels and you willl love the sensative tip action. Can't go wrong at that price.:smile2:
