I have a friend of mine who has a small john boat and the motor has fouled 2 plugs. Any ideas of what may be causing this????????

Running too rich, too much oil, weak spark....When it fouls the plug, pull it out and inspect it. Is it wet with gas, or is it oily and or carboned up? how bad does the engine smoke when it's running? If it's a lot I'd suggest checking your oil mixture. Also how does it run when it has a new plug in it? Is it running good, Or is it lacking power? If it dont have the power it normally has it's probably running rich. Indicating a carb problem. Maybe a simple cleaning. Not sure what the mixture is supposed to be, But, i'd guess around 40:1 or so.

May not be the right plug and also the gap may be to close. What year is it and what kind of plug does it have in it and the mixture should be according to the age of the motor.
