Charles,it must be a 6500 series reel.Someone may have put the right hand side of a 5500 on it,they will interchange. I have 2 that has clickers, one came from ebay and I bought a 6500 side plate with the clicker and put it on the other one.I think the only 5500 you can buy with a clicker is the "pro rocket",it looks like the old style of abu's.A 5500 line cap. goes like this,12-205,,14-180,,17-130,,and is roughly 2 3/4 in wide(not measueing the handle and spool tension nut.The 6500 is about 3 1/8 wide, and line cap.is 14-205,,17-190,,and 20-155.

ABU hasn't made a recent version, if ever, of the 5500 series with line-out alarm (clicker) that I know of. So I made my own by ordering the alarm parts and replacement sideplates from ABU. Diameter of all ABU's under the 7000 are the same. I know nothing of their reels larger than the 6XXX series.
Line capacity of the 6500C3 is 14lb. 245 yards, when mine are spooled they have 30lb. Line capacity of the 5500C3 is 12lb. 205 yards, I use 20lb.
The 5500 is my choice for channel cats and the 6500 is my choice for flatheads. Unfortunately the 6500's are lineless because I haven't chased flatheads for two years, maybe if Shelby would call me I'd start catching some Kansas flatheads again.lol
I'm currently looking to buy 3-1500 reels and converting them with clickers for use with 8lb. test for channels.

1st pic back row 3x6500C3 and front row is 3x5500C3
2nd pic 6500C3 in between 5500C3's for spool width comparison.

    Hey Rick,
I modify and upgrade the 6500-5500's also,, it's kinda fun,, and they all work the same, just a bit of line capacity difference..
I gave a friend one,,(Jagdoctor), and he's enjoying the Heavy Duty 5500-w/ clicker..
Spooled it up with 80# Power Pro, and it's an impressive rig, in a small package!!

Yes Sir you are correct, they are impressive. I'm going to do a series of upgrades to my 5500's that cost more than the reel brand new. Just trying to do my part for the economy.:smile2:

You should be able to find a good many of the 6500s on ebay, older medels have the round grips on the handles..Rick,thats some nice looking 5500s you got there .I know they work great.Mine dont look that nice! I have allways liked the narrow spool reels better.I have several of the older 5600c4s with the clicker, thats why I bought them, narrow(same size as 5500) and came with a clicker. The new 5600c4 doesnt have them clicker feature now:angry:

Heres a new never used 5500 pro rocket. This one is a 2000 year model.I bought it from a guy in sweden. Its got the clicker like the "old style" 6000/6500.The clicker button is hard to see on that angle.
