Guys, Ive got a 1985 50hp evinrude that wont idle, It runs great once its off idle, but I can run it until its warmed up good and pull back to the dock and it will only half-way run, I have given up on trying to drive it on the trailer cause it WILL cut off before I get it loaded . Any advice would be greatly appreaciated.

Kieth, idle problems are usually fuel/carb related. Air leaks in the fuel system too.

If you lived a little closer, I'd get it done for you.

Thats identical to the problems my friend FuzzFace and I had last summer on two of our boats. Once we rebuilt the carbs it went away. Mine is a 50HP Johnson and his a 70HP Evinrude. Do the carbs the way I explained in your post about the timing. It will solve the problems.

I had the same problem with my 1962 40 hp. I had to rebuild the fuel pump, which helped a lot, also I am working on the carb. I think that should get it up to par.
