Friend was fishing missouri south of Sioux City and got a 48lb flattie. That was nice to hear as all day my gut feeling was today would be good inspite of how slow its been days past. Midafternoon-water 61degree.

Was on cut bait! Did release it.:smile2:

He did yes. Is his PB and he was excited. He has caught several this season since he quit doing the normal wing dike stuff and actually hunting (looking) for them. Trying new techniques and working previous overlooked areas.

He understands now that there is alot of good water for them to be in.

I look for him to get alot bigger ones yet if he keeps at it.

(Bet you had something to do with that decision)
Thats what you've been telling me, hard to break old habits but you've convinced me to go for it. Now to see if an old dog can learn some new tricks. Congrats to you and you buddy.

Awesome catch! So how about sharing some of those "new tricks" with THIS "old dog"? What is "the normal wing dyke stuff" you mentioned, and what is he doing instead now, precisely? What do you look for to determine a "good spot"? Temp, current, depth, etc...? I've never had a bit of luck river fishing and need all the advice I can get!
