I am all about the good ole 45-70 gov in the rifle, and the newer .480 Ruger in the pistol. Love the 45-70, it's an all purpose round, and my Marlin is an all purpose kinda gun. The .480 Super Redhawk is just awesome. No other word really describes it. Just awesome!
Marlin 1895XLR 45-70 and Ruger Super Redhawk .480 Ruger
my big bore of choice ,would be,If I ever get one a falling block 1885 Winchester replica in none other than 45-70.I've always dreamed of owning one and after long range sillouets became the rage they got outrageous in price ,someday my day will come.
if i ever find one.. i WILL buy the marlin 1895mr 450marlin..its the one with the full length barrel and pistol grip stock that marlin made about 2 years ago and stopped making after that...full velocity with the new 450 cartridge...should be a great gun..
my dad passed away not long ago and he used his 444 marlin rifle since as far back as i remember...as a kid it was always comforting to see that big gun with us in the big woods where the bears might have been
I like anything Marlin makes, and I loved my friends .444. However I've never had any need for a truly big bore gun. If I did, I've always had my eye on a Sharps .45-70. If I can't stop a game animal with my 30-06 or my .50 cal, then I ain't waiting around to see what's gonna happen! I'll see you back at the truck!!!
Anybody shot a bear with a 444?
