I guess you could just park and camp there, Ive fished all night there many times and made fires. theres not really camp sites and its not really that nice... LOL. Fishing usually sucks there, but sometimes there is a good sturgeon, cat, striper bite if you catch it at right time. Most the area , if not all is real shaloow at this point of SJ river. How do I send my pic to my own email? I have atat service slider phone? Ill try to figure it out today, or Rossi can do it....Hell be home alll day...NON WORKING s.o.b!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

That looks like a blue with a broke tail.. If it is a channel it is the biggest channel cat I've ever seen!!!

Looking at the anal fin of the fish it appears to be a channel catfish.

There have been blues stock in that river years ago not by DFG but by a biologist. There was question to weather or not they reproduced or not. That same river supposively put out some catfish in the 50's and 60's and they were definitely blues. If the anal fin is straight and forked it is always a blue. Channels anal fin are more rounded.

On Blue cats the bottom part of the tail is slightly longer than the top, while Channel's are slightly longer on the top.
It can be identified by counting the rays on the anal fin.
    Channel 24-29
    Blues have 30-34

Looks like a Blue, has the 'dorsal hump' and the tail isn't very pointy.

Its not a record the state channel record is held by an old buddy name lee from Santa Ana River lakes at 52 pounds. And some thought that catch was actually a blue cat or an hybrid because those lakes was actually stocking hybrids at that time. Now as far as a record for channels in that river it may be or not that has to be researched if it was a confirmed channel.

There been bigger cats caught in that river however some consider those catches as suspect in the 50's and 60's that was confirmed blue cats. The catches has been few and far in between unless those cats reproduced as they were stocked in the late 70's. According to the DFG upon research of this question earlier are not plentiful in Northern Cal on any waters.
