Congratulations on a nice fish. It looks like the river is in better condition up above here. Maybe our stretch will get into shape soon. Congratulations again!

Congratulations on a nice fish, and on behalf of your fellow Missouri BOC brothers, thanks for releasing it to go grow up...

I'd like to make one small request:

When you catch a big fish like that and you know you're going to release it, *please* don't hold it up by it's jaw -- that is bad on the fish in about a zillion different ways, not least of which is the damage you can do to its jaw bone and joints, plus the stress it places on the internal organs.

If you want to weigh him, put him in a net and hang the net from your scales. If you don't have a net big enough, either find someone who does or just take good measurements of length and girth and you can get a pretty good estimate of actual weight.

If you want a photograph, cradle him horizontally in your arms and smile pretty for the camera.

Take care of those big fish and they'll take care of you in the years to come...

Yes that was the only one, that was the second hole the first hole I lost a $125.00 rod and reel it got caught in my anchor rope and went out with my anchor, lesson learn. Here's a picture of my rod capture by my Humminbird SI as my rod went under water, look at the straight streak line. Jumping in to the water to try and retrieve is vary dangerous on big rivers and low water temperatures, Plus again my son was on the boat, not a good ideal.

Sorry about your rod & reel bro........ I'm glad you didnt try to jump in after it. It wasnt worth your life
