we went out sunday early looking for shad and herring. some luck but not much. we were in the little falls area in fredericksburg. we found a spot with fallen trees submerged. we caught a 8lb. stripper and a few 5lb. cats. the next catch was a 30lb. cat on light tackle, what a beast to pull in. made our day. good luck, mark :smile2:

Way to go!!! Nice catch on light gear... I would much rather catch a 30 pounder on 10 pound test than a 50 pounder on 40 pound test..

Yeah an 8 pound stripper would bother the heck out of me. I'd have to have a serious talk with their parents :)

Got any pics of your 30 pound channel?

I was just getting ready to ask if the cats were warming up there yet. We usually make a trip or 2 a year to the Saluda area. Anyone else catching many yet or is it better to wait another 2-3 weeks or more?
