hey im trying to clear up some illinois laws
"paddlefishsnagged must be taken into immediate possession
and included in the daily catch limit.
Once the daily limit of salmon or paddlefish
has been reached snagging must cease."

does this mean it is actualy illegal to realease a snagged spoonbill?
also there is no size limit?

KC, probably so, on not releasing paddlefish. That is the way it is here and in Indiana. Nos ize limit and no culling. If you snag two that are 5 inches long, you are by law supposed to keep them. Yea funny I know, but that is the way it is written. I like the Missourri rules better, two fish limit, but the fish must measure 24 inches? from the eye to the fork in the tail to be of legal size. That would keep you from haveing to keep a baby. What are you supposed to do with a 6 inch paddlefish, put him in an aquarium? lol Vern

I think that it is your first 2 that count. Kind of confusing when across the river in MO there are different minimums in different areas. Hope you guys can hook up with me down at Hannibal some time in my boat. We'll work different areas. Hannibal Mike (have you hooked any asian carp yet?)

    I'm ready for some big heads! I've fought a 10 lber & it was a handfull, I can't imagine what a 50+ would fight like! :)
Is the dike accessable at Saverton or is it underwater?

Yes, the water DOES go over the dike. It happened to me last fall. I was only out at the locks for about an hour & when I walked back there was an inch or 2 of water over the walk way in places. Made me a bit neverous!

Today was not good at the river. My first cast i snagged a huge log that was underwater it was imposible breaking my line and when it did i lost about 30 ft of it. Then a few casts later i got snaged on the bottom rocks. I was dumb and thought that would'nt hapen so i only brought 2 hooks and lost them both within the first 30 min.. It happens i guess.:cursing:
