well after a lot of talk I thought its time to start a thread on the next gathering for the river, going to try keep the post going into the gatherings section http://www.catfish1.com/forums/showt...351#post514351 as so the dudes from az and ca can keep things up to date togather.

going to be the same spot as last year Mayflower county park in Blythe CA, but in the month of May or early June there's only 2 weekends that are going to work in May (thur)5/3 to (sun)5/6 or (thur)5/17 to (sun)5/20 the other 2 weekends are mothers day and Memorial Day, I also would think we mite think about the weekend after Memorial Day 5/31 to 6/3 as i think there wont be a lot of peps out that weekend after being out the week before

this is the time of year that we got all the big flats last year so we should all have a good chance for the big one

Good going Dale I am in thats for sure. Whatever the fellas want to agree upon as far as the date because I know mothers day and Memorial day will be bad weekends for it. First weekend in May is fine. Also the one before Memorial Day or after. Whichever way it goes I will take off likely that Thurs and Fri to be at the River and then come back Sunday morning.

OK I found it. I was thinking of McIntyre park but I see that Mayflower is North of Blythe off of 6th Ave.

Yobud, I'll vote for the beginning of May, before the Memorial day crowd. This is after the Tax Date, and some of us get paid once a month.

Been awhile since I fished the river for flats. My boat is too large for the river.
I used to fish up river from Martinez Lake. That's where I caught my personal best catfish, 45lbs on a hand size bluegill.
Back then (1973) that really raised some eyebrows cause the record was 52lbs.

Tom, You have got to go to blackMeadows Caynon on Lake Havasu... Got lots of deep water... lots of stirper, catfish, and it has its Damn wind too. You can go up river 25 miles to lake Havasu city, and then 23 more miles to the power lines down from I-40 and then 6 miles up to Golden shores marina, and the "back door" into Topoc Marsch... 10 miles of catfish fishing ponds that is open to the public.... You wont be able to go to far with the water that you draw, but you can pull into area by there launch ramp and be in prime Flathead and Channel catfish water... One spot off the road, north of Golden Shores is called "Catfish Heaven" This place is one that the state of AZ put together for handicapped access.... a great launch ramp.... Long Handicapped pier, area "on top of prime water"...... only one problem.... no overnight camping... so dont camp... officially, just go back to the motel, restaurant at golden shores, or camp across the river at Park Moabi.... about 2 miles of shore camping with wing dams every 150 yards....

As this is not to far from Bullhead city, and Laughlin..... short enough for an evening of Casino in Nev......

Got to get there Bro.... They have major boat races in front of Blackmeadows landing......

Strange as it may seem I have fished the Colorado river from the Parker strip to the Mexican border and lake Mead but none of it in between.

hey folks sounds like the vote is for the 1st weekend in May, there should be some good fishing and alot of fun, ill start getting some info posted in the gathering section.

Ray and Tom it well be great hooken up with you ol river rats, hey ray I have never heard of any flats getting up the river off of havasu i know there in the lake but i was told they dont go up river cuz how cold the water gets up there, seems to me they would be up there though, i love the river up there just to many peps up there these days, grandparents had a mobilhome in black medows from the early 50's untill the late 70's and spent many a day out on the lake before it turned in to a yuppy zone, remember when there was no havasu city just ol site six and an old dirt air strip on the hill, back in the day you could go out and get 100's of BIG crappie, ol well just love talking about the ol days, and then theres Parker:tounge_out: My dad had a mobil in lakeside from 1970 untill just a few years ago and thats just crazy up there now days, hell i even went to parker high for a year in 71, man im old:lol:

It will be good fishn with you again Keith and Tim,

Hope to see a gang of you Calif. dudes out there
