Congrats on that Huge Channel cat.Thats a Trophy channel in my book.
How long did you let it sit in the water to get its energy back?It sometimes takes awhile for them to get back right. It has a nice curl in its tail in da pics. But it might have just been an old fish and on its last leg.

Again.thats a nice fish and it looks like your kids are hooked on fishing which is great.

I held him by the mouth for 20 mins trying to get him to go but he wouldnt. He would breathe but just float. I really didnt want to see him go to waste. We put him in a horse tank all night and he had that curl in the morning and was on his last life.

Cheese-n-rice that is (was) a big channel. Good job.

So it tasted ok? When I caught my 19.5lb flat I ended up keeping it. It tasted pretty good, but seems like once they get up that size and bigger the connective tissue between the layers of meat starts to get a little stringy/tough. Was that channel that way? Maybe the slow cooking in the smoker softens it up some?
He ended up being pretty good. The smoker does soften them up. I mostly only keep anything under 10lbs.
