This one was my new personal best, 35 inches, 21 lbs. 4 oz. Caught him while Walleye fishing the river with a 6' med. Ugly Stik Lite, and a Zebco 33 Platinum with 8# Trilene XL. I casted a 2" Rattle Shad lure along a dead tree near the bank and boom the fight was on. A good 15- 20 minutes later I had finally landed him after several good "drag smokeing" runs. Snapped a few pics. and relased him to fight another day. This is considered a good size Flatty for the area. Just thought I'd share.

Nice fishing skills you got there, Mike. Light tackle and near some trees is very treacherous.

I haven't ever caught a flathead on a lure yet, but would love too.

Reps off to ya. A flat is very hard to bring in with light line.

That's a real pretty fish. Congrats! Now are you hooked? Gonna start chasing the flatheads for real?

By the way, if you do start targeting flatheads, you are going to have to change gear ... becuase everybody knows that you need at least 80 pound line (really 100 pound braid would be better)!
