The other day I went down to creek to catch some bait. I found this low water farm access and the creek gets about 5 feet deep looked like a great spot. I use a 10 foot ultra light crappie rig for bait catching just a little tiny hook and a chunk of worm. after trying for about an hour with no luck I through the line out and my pole immediately double over and a big flathead rolled. this weekend I set 4 limb lines and they were so tangled up i had to cut them free 1 10/0 light wire circle staightened. next weekend plan c

When I had some lines set, the hooks would also be strighten, Turtles are the main cause for this problem. Try using some bluegill or some shadsides.

You need to use a better hook. Try a thicker shanked hook, they don't bend as easy as the wire ones do!

I like the Gamakatsu HD Live Bait hooks. It would take a MAC truck to straighten them.

I would try some big Gamakatsu octopus circle hooks it would take alot to bend those out. Tom is right about the pieces of intertube that will take alot of pressure off of the hooks.
