Four Nextel Cup crew chiefs were suspended and their teams were fined a total of $150,000, 150 driver points and 150 car owner points Tuesday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway.

Evernham Motorsports took the biggest hit as its lead car, the No. 9 Dodge of driver Kasey Kahne, lost its team director, Kenny Francis, for four races beginning with Sunday's Daytona 500; Kahne was docked 50 driver points and owner Ray Evernham 50 owner points.

Kahne's teammates, Elliott Sadler (No. 19) and Scott Riggs (No. 10) lost their team directors, Josh Browne and Rodney Childers, respectively, for two races apiece; Sadler and Riggs will lose 25 driver points each, and owners Evernham (19) and James Rocco (10) will be docked 25 owner points following the Daytona 500.

Roush Racing's No. 17 Ford team for driver Matt Kenseth was hit with an equivalent penalty as Kahne's -- with both infractions involving "air improperly ducted into the car," according to NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton.

Kenseth's crew chief Robbie Reiser will serve a four-race suspension and he was assessed a $50,000 fine. Kenseth will lose 50 driver points and owner Jack Roush 50 owner points.

You would think these guys would have learned. Some of these stuff is obvious that they are trying to beat the system. NASCAR might need to make the penelties a little harder to stop these guys.

They found a gel substance on the inside of the intake manifold that would enhance the fuel octane for more speed

Jeff Gordon's winning racecar in Thursday's Gatorade Duels 150 qualifying race failed post-race inspection, dropping him from fourth to 42nd on the starting grid for Sunday's Daytona 500.
Gordon's car was deemed "close to an inch" too low, according to NASCAR officials, due to the fact that a bolt on the shock fastener was misaligned.
"We're sure this wasn't intentional," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president of competition.
No fines or point deductions will be assessed to the No. 24 team, according to Pemberton.
Despite the infraction, Gordon still goes into the record books as the qualifying race winner.

Remember when Richard Petty won Richmond with something like a 455 CID engine? The win stood but they took the prize money.

Remember when Bobby Aliison was caught using his roll cage as a fuel cell at Pocono?

How many times have you been peppered with BB's standing in the infield.
I think it was Cale Yarborough or Bobby Allison that was dropping lead BB's at Charlotte. There for awhile every time the car entered turn 1 a load of lead BB's would get lost.

Nascar hired Gary Nelson to catch cheaters because he was the best cheater in the business:lol:
Kinda like the FBI hiring the best bank robbers to keep them from robbing banks.

LOL, It was Gary Nelson who filled up the roll cage with marbles and BBs in Darrell Waltrip's car. Each time Waltrip went into the turns he would say bombs away over the radio to gary. The trap door was located where nascar would jack up the car therefore covering up the location for evidence. lmao
