Does anyone on here have a lot of experience with these engines. Mine runs fine but there is a small hole in the lower unit that I have no idea what its for and I cant find out what it is anywhere in the manual. It is on the right hand side right in front of the oil level screw and in front of the front lower unit nut and up about an inch. Its about an 1/8" hole and when I flush the engine a little bit of water is coming out of it and I never noticed it doing it before. My camera takes huge pictures and I have had bad luck at trying to make them smaller so I guess PM me your email and I will send it that way. Thanks in advance.

Nothing to worry about, lower unit drain hole.

Like Bob said. drain hole. if it wasn't there the leg housing would fill up and stay full. Can you say busted when the freeze came.:tounge_out:

If its a drain hole then should there be water coming out while your flushing it. If so then is something inside the lower unit housing leaking.

this is for a 90 hp 4 stroke, but is probably the same . go to the bottom of file and look at water flow.
