How old would the average flathead be if it were to weigh 20#?

Id say it would depend on what region it was caught in. But I would say at least 5 years old. I read that flathead catfish are hard to age but they can reach ages of up to 40-50 years old.

I agree. An arizona or texas flathead will mature faster than an illinois flathead. Around here a 20 pounder I think would have to be 5 years old at least..

I read studies that show that a flathead grows at a faster rate in reservoirs than they do in the river. Not necessarily bigger, just grows at a faster rate per age wise.
