I caught my first blue cat this weekend at ropers landing on the Ohio River near Galconda. This baby was on a trot line using cut blue gill. I have had everyone down their say they have been having no luck. Guys puting out 70-80 hooks who normally do real well and they just are not catching much at all. Is their anything to do during this hot weather with rod and reel or trot line?

Eric thanks for sharing your fishing trip. Nice blue you caught. I'll give you a couple of ideas to try. There is a double outside bend just south of Rosiclare near buck creek. Between those bends is a varation of depth down to 72'. This area has some large bolders . Check it out. You might want to check out some sand bars early and late . I hope some of this might help.

Thanks guys, i'll try some of those things when I get a chance. Do you fish the Ohio much Mickey? My parents have a cabin at ropers and its tuff for me to get away. Is this bend very close to ropers landing?
