    Hello,
I have a 1999 johnson 35 hp 3 cylinder that has been giving me fits.Last year it would stall out and we discovered if you lightly tap on the electronic module on the side of the motor it would straighten up and run o.k. I took it to a marine dealer and they confirmed and replaced the module and checked it out. They said the carbs needed rebuilt before it would run correctly again.Their rate was more than I had to spend so I found another dealer that charged less.Long story short he rebuilt the carbs and informed me that they were like new but he cleaned them and put in new kits anyway. It still wont run right. It runs on the middle cylinder fouls out the plug on the top one and the bottom one still looks new no gas on it nothing.compression is around 125 on all cylinders spark is good and if you slightly choke each of the carbs with your hand gas is present in the front of them.Is there something Im overlooking or is there a common problems with these engines that would cause this.
    any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

He may have not put the carbs back on in the right places or the sunc may be out. I would take it back to him because only he knows what he did or was suppose to do.

thanks for the suggestions.I checked with him friday about the sync. issue He said he did that and double checked it.He is now leaning towards the reeds which I guess are behind the carbs and control fuel into the cylinders.I am not familiar with reeds so I hope he is right He knows a lot more than I do.I will keep ya posted on what happens.
    thanks,
    Larry

it could be the reeds.sometimes a mechanic can get something in the reeds, while the carbs are off the motor if he doesn't cover the holes, while the carbs are being worked on.i have pulled pieces of tie wraps out of them before, which are used for fuel clamps in alot of applications.hope he finds it.

Just an update.Took my boat to another dealer and he discovered that the previous dealer hooked the wires from the power pack to the coils up backwards. which explains why it would only run on the middle cylinder. It needs a little more fine tuning as it flooded out when we went snagging, but that should be a minor issue at least it runs.

Thanks guys for the comments and ideas.good luck fishing
