I have a problem with my Ranger. I started it and it seems like it wants to run wide open. I checked the throttle cable to see if it was stuck and it moves freely and isn't stuck. Any suggestions or diagnoses would be greatly appreciated.
I love this truck and there have been many deer and fish put into the back of it and I hate to see her just sit there while I drive my Jeep CJ-7.
You can almost see tears coming from her headlights.

sounds like the idle control solonoid is stuck open, i think on the ford you can take it off, just a couple of screws and try cleaning it out with carb cleaner, and retry, you can tap on it also atfer its running it may break it loose, i would try that after cleaning, if it still wont idle down you will prolly have to replace it, also check for big vacuum leaks as the fuel injected engines will just add fuel and rpms will go way up
