16 ft fishing machine question

    im looking at a 1983 16 ft sylvan fishing machine max rating 60 hp, would a 1995 70 hp evinrude be to much weight. any info would be helpful

    i wouldnt think so... but if you google the model number of your boat you should be able to find the specs. also, how much does the old motor weigh? compare to the new one, and it will prolly be pretty close since there is a large gap in the model ages....

    It would not be a problem until they gave you a ticket. Each boat is rated x number of horse power. safety first!!!

    Same thing that I was thinking. Kind of like having tires on a car that aren't street legal... you're fine until you get caught.:wink:

    As long as the transom, etc, is solid, the weight difference is probably not an issue.

    If the plate is gone from the boat, then they have a formula/guide book that they used based on the boats' length/width, etc, to decide if you are over spec.
