12 foot boat trolling motor

    Will a 65# 24 volt trolling motor push a 12 ft aluminum boat that is rated for a 15hp and 700# max load including people gear and motor, up a river for catfishing. I will be going nomore than a couple hundred yards.

    Depending on the flow rate of the river, I think it should be ok for that short of a distance. Are you fishing the Dan River? Had to say it---Go Hokies!

    Mostly the Staunton but maybe the Dan or Banister we have a farm on the Staunton, and there are some good holes close by but it is not real close to a public boat ramp, but we could side that boat down the bank. I know a little tiller motor would be better but we never use the trolling motor.

    A 35# will push a 18ft bass tracker in the dan, if they are pulling water it's tough though.That is on a up river run.

    Going only that far worse case would be find a shoreline up river and do it in two trips up river. Just a thought, a couple hundred # could make the difference. Good Luck!
