We hit the water around 8:30 this morning the temp. was alittle chilly but not too bad.......we ended up drifting and anchoring for about an hour without a bite......we then chased skipjack for awhile and dragged a couple of rods around for catfish.....we ended up with 80+ skipjack, but while we were busy reeling them in one of our rods goes off with a whole skippy on it.......Sam quickly snatched up the rod and it made several hard runs, we were all thinking possible striper but it ended up being a hard fighting 39 LB Bluecat.......we then went hunting for a biggun the last half of the day and ended up hooking up with two of them a 61 Lber caught by Sam and Dave got a nice 59 Lber...Dave also got a small drum and a channel cat while spoon fishing.

All skipjack caught on Foley Spoons, All cats caught on Skipjack 30-45ft deep while controled drift fishing.

Nice fish man! I envy you guys that have skipjack available to you. I wish bait was that easy to catch here in coastal NC:sad2: Sometimes you have to throw the net all day or fish all day seemingly just to get enough bait to fish with. Oh well, such is life.

Once again congratulations on some very nice fish.

Thanks All......I dont have a link to the spoons...here's a pic they make them in three colors white, chartreuse, and chrome....and three sizes as well...I primarely use two baits for skipjack Sabiki's and Foley Spoons......the spoons have been the ticket most of the time this year.
