Well I just looked at my order info and found out I accidentally bought 100# power pro for my new Abu 6500 pro rocket. Is this line going to be too big for a decent cast at 20# diameter?

i run 30# mono on my 6600c4, i can put almost 200 yards of line on it,, can make a loooong cast and have line to fight with, i think the power pro will be just fine for your reel

One of our Bro's here on the site, uses 6500 series reels w/ 100# PP, and swears by it..

I think you'll be OK.. Just remember to use a Mono, or Florocarbon leader..

It will cut down on your distance. The reel only holds like 160 yards of 20#? Not that the capacity matters exactly but the rate the spool diameter shrinks matters. I downsized from 80# to 65# spider wire and can tell the difference in that, even though it isn't a large one.

I run 100 lb. red power pro on my tournament reels and love it. Use 40 to 80 lb. mono leaders depending on how thick the cover is you are fishing.

I cast with an Abu 6500 Pro Rocket and use #65 power pro. I also use 12' rods for max distance. This is a very nice distance set up. I have never used #100 for fear of spooling the reel during the cast. I am sure the reel can handle it, you just won't be able to spool very much on. Good luck.

I can't find 100lb power pro or 80 for that matter. I'm ordering the 80lb team catfish tug o war braid to see what it's like to put on my 6500

the abu should hold the line no problem make sure you put mono backing on the reel as otherwise the line will slip

also if you want to put the maximum amount of line on the reel make sure you soak the line in water prior to spooling it on as then the line will spool on tighter

Instead of using mono backing I've heard of putting tape on the spool. Does anyone else do this, and if so what kind of tape and how much? Thanks.

100 and 80 pound power pro can be found on ebay for really good prices. Thats where I get mine. Save a bunch on buying bulk spools.

Jeremy, the last time I spooled up, I used electrical tape, just enough to wrap around the spool one time.
