Anyone buy a Procat 240 recently? Need pricing opinions

So I decided long ago that I wanted a procat 240, and I'm getting close to pulling the trigger within the next couple of months. I got an estimate from my local dealer, but since I obviously want the best deal I can get I thought I'd check here and see if I have some wiggle room for negotiations anywhere. I've never bought a new boat, and I'm unsure of how to go about negotiations. I don't want to waste my dealers time with lowball offers, but I don't want them laughing at how much I paid when I pull out either.

I'll post my estimate here, and any opinions are appreciated. The estimate does not include the Ulterra trolling motor I want, but it does include the batteries for it. The fish finder is also not included in the estimate. The power pole brackets are for Talons I plan to install. The dealer says the weld on brackets would be better than the standard Talon brackets. I'm not too familiar with the Talon setup. I know I'll want a tilt bracket for them so I can fold them in, would that setup work with the brackets from seaark?

**I tried to upload a screenshot of my estimate, but get invalid file. Guess I'll do this the hard way.

I ended up with a War Eagle Blackhawk, but when I was looking at SeaArks also, LSK in Missouri was quite a bit cheaper than Bills. But Suzukis are cheaper than Yamahas. Blackbeard and Bills have Yamaha, so I don't know where your estimate is from. Bills also has Mercury and LSK has Suzuki. Get an estimate from all 3, and play them off of each other a bit. While there aren't many Suzuki dealers they are very good motors.

My estimate was from Bills. I originally thought about Suzuki but bills doesn't sell them so I'd have to go across the state for service work. I've read Suzuki can be hard to get parts or warranty work out of.

Blackbeard simple told me 42,500 base price with 200 Yamaha and no options. Didn't seem willing to deal. I'll check out LSK. If I can get some cheaper prices that will give me some negotiating room with Bills and/or another place to buy if bills won't deal.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Well I just found this old post through a google search. Guess I'll bump it and say it took longer than expected, but I finally pulled the trigger on a new Procat 240. It's supposed to be ready by Friday. Looking at this estimate vs what I paid now, I wish I had pulled the trigger then! I paid a somewhat fair amount more for this boat without the bimini top and fatboy seats, but I did add an Ulterra 112 to it.

Is it Friday yet? I'm awful excited!

Ha! Not 10k but about half that. I didn't think it would be a struggle because the 24 foot is what I've been looking at for years. Thankfully they didn't have a 20 footer on the lot though, as I glanced at a 20 ft river cat and started questioning if I really needed the 24. But I wanted a boat big enough I can comfortably fish 4-5 people, and I could see the 20 foot getting cramped real fast. Sure it'll be way too much boat when I'm out by myself, but I'll just have to learn how to make the best of it and "suffer" :roflmao:

I bought a 20 foot Crestliner Intruder Catfish Edition 3 years ago and now wish I bought a bigger boat. I never been in a Sea Ark 240 but they look awesome. How do they handle rough water compared to a deep V. That new Excel Storm Cat (23 ft) looks nice also. Congrats on your purchase. Photos would be nice. Thanks!

Well I didn't get any pictures but I did get a couple. So far I'm loving the new boat. I can tell it's going to be pretty rough loading by myself but I'm hoping things smooth out after I load a couple of times. The ulterra makes unloading a breeze, let it float off the trailer, hit the button on remote to extend the trolling motor then hit anchor, then bring the boat to the dock after parking.

The boat rides really well so far, there was no wind yesterday but I got the first couple of hours of break in done and I had no problems with the wake from other boats. The Yamaha 200 gets me about 47mph with me and a buddy on board with livewells empty but the boat is still lightly loaded.

All in all I think I'm going to love it!

Awesome boat! 18 months ago I bought a new 20' SeaArk RiverCat. I kind of miss the 18' G3 I had (totaled while towing to Florida). I usually fish alone and it was easier to handle. It was pretty cramped with all the stuff, and I had to walk on coolers and things to grab a rod when the clicker sounded, but after 18 year I was used to it. It was just difficult when someone else came with me.

I would be cautious about using the trolling motor to anchor and bring back to dock after parking truck. The battery could be dead (in remote OR trolling motor), ice could break a connection, etc. etc. I back my boat in, put in park with emergency brake on, climb into bed of truck, then walk over tailgate into boat, drive boat off trailer and to dock, tie boat to dock, walk back to truck and park in parking lot, and then walk back to dock and untie boat and go fish. Reverse that order to put boat back on trailer. No failures using that system for 20 years. I like to minimize possibilities of problems. Problems are going to happen; I just try to minimize their chances. Enjoy your boat; it's awesome.

Lol I've done the same thing. Luckily the wind was in my favor and blew the boat right back towards the bank towards me. I was lucky I didn't have to go swimming.

I think a better winch might solve my loading problems. The current one that came on the trailer won't budge the trailer once it's on the bunks. Otherwise I'll have to power forward and leave the boat in gear, but I don't really like doing that. I'd prefer to just winch up the last couple feet and call it done.
