The water levels at Kentucky Dam have got back to near normal, at least for now.
A few of us hit the dam today and caught 60 or so between us in a couple of hours. We are spending the night and plan on hitting them again in the morning.
If anyone needs bait, I would get down here asap. The bank hogs have not yet swarmed.

Yeah, not many shorter than 14", with most around 16". It was cool!
You had to be standing in the sweet spot to catch numbers though. Got a little tight down there today. Fishing in heavy current with someone 6' away from you on each side is not the most enjoyable situation IMO.
But we went down to fill the big cooler and got it done, and that's what counts. Got 2 freezers full now. Time to hit the river, come on warm weather!

Vacuum sealing is great and they can be good bait for a long time. I've heard people using them 2 years after they were caught.
The vacuum takes a while though, especially when you're freezing 100+ fish. I use the simple press and seal wrap method.

We (myself and a buddy) fished Barkley Thursday and put three in the bucket. We started at Barkley Friday but were not doing any good at all so went over to KY. Like you said if you were in the sweet spot it was fast with some doubles and triples, we were not in that spot but did manage to put 40 nice ones in the bucket. I will be returning as soon as it appears the weather is going to be pleasant for Skip fishing.

Was she a blond wearing a blue jacket? If so I did see you and wish I would have know you were a member I would have spoken. I have gotten mixed reactions trying to visit with folks while Skip fishing there, some have been super friendly others acted like I was fishing in their private pond even though I was there an hour or more prior to them and they came and started fishing next to me. Oh well, just the nature of the human beast I guess.

I went back yesterday (03/27/18) and took a buddy with me, due to age and injuries received in Viet Nam he has a very tough time navigating the rocks. The water was much higher than when I was there Friday and the sidewalk was under water leaving him having to fish at the bottom of the stairs where the current was horrible and the fishing was poor. Does anyone know at what river level the sidewalk is exposed? I want to take him back but not until he can use the sidewalk.

Not sure if I am reading the information correctly but if I am it appears the river level below Ky. Dam is 321.42 and the flow is going to be reduced a bit. How high can the river level be and still be good for producing skips? Would like to go back this coming week but don't want to make the drive for nothing.

It might be in good shape later next week, as long as the discharge keeps reducing.
Look at some older pics of the tailwater on Google earth. You will see the round fishing platform that is currently under water. In addition, there is a concrete ledge that looks like the sidewalk that's down by the waters edge. Skips love holding against that ledge and between the ledge and the round fishing platform.
If you can't get your rig down into that area, you shouldn't make the trip, IMO.
Good luck!
