Be that as it may I am the Fish Whisperer, I have never used scents or artificial baits. Just good ol worms, liver, cut up fish. But this year I’m giving it a shot, for this question we’re talking about YumBrand Crawbugs, Catfish or other Nectar, and Magic Bait. Glad the YumBrand crawbugs were hollow for jigs and being The Fish Whisperer I stuffed these fake and “scented” crawbugs full of Chicken Blood/Shrimp Magic Bait and am currently bottom fishing. Keep in mind I’m fishing in the Arkansas River where there are multiple strong currents and they weren’t biting nightcrawlers (thus I actually gave this a shot). As a matter of fact, this morning I caught a line I snagged still loaded with the same nightcrawlers I scented with Catfish Nectar that I baited it with the day before. Will this trial (a) attract fish, b) will they actually bite, or c) should I just deploy my secret tactic of fish whispering (not an Indian or Christian prayer, it’s actually a trick I stumbled on by accident)
My tragic weight loss from snagging other lines has led me to invent: The MagicNectarYum trotline tactical sweep
Hint: cast far out, leave spincast up for maximum benefit. One hook is a worm
I take that back, I didn’t catch anything on a bobber. They left the shore yet stuck around, abnormal for the river but I caught a 1’9” channel cat on a worm and a foot and a half Gaspergou, caught on big earthworms
They are night biting. They weren’t at the beginning of my scientific experiment, but now they are here and I did pull MagicNectarYum out of the water. I will now redeploy it so they don’t leave, and the big boys are back so I want to see if it will actually catch a fish. This morning I caught nearly a 2 foot long channel catfish(it looks like a blue but it’s not) probably 6 or 7 lbs and a big foot long gaspergou. Night fishing on giant garden-dug earthworms, and it’s pretty chilly out
I figured I need to...MagicNectarYum was in the water, but these were earthworm catches. Bout two footers
I guess they love the signature but they won’t really eat it
I updated the process of the MagicNectar mixture, it actually needs to be a dried creme paste instead of a gummy substancehalfway mixed up for best longest lasting plus emission action results. No, I’m not bobber fishing for catfish. That was the end of my bobber fishing expedition, I did tear it up at spawn time but they swam further out. I’m just one of those guys who’s got to have a fish, I don’t care if I have to let them go
For the past four days I’ve halted the experiment due to me working and the river receding. But now that the water is exceptionally low and it should warm up, I’m redropping the MagicNectarYum to analyze the next repeat spawn. I don’t work again until Sunday so I have 3 more days. But the past 4 days on straight worms I’ve caught 3 catfish and 3 gaspergou, and one big dang largemouth bass
I dug em up. The river is very shallow this week and the cat are full of mussels, they generally just happen upon a worm. The good news is I got a 2 oz weight back and tomorrow I can swim out and pull up the rest
Ok I’m redeploying Magic Nectar Yum when they’re biting anyway. They got snagged on a tangly root (probably the weight) and there’s no way to tell if last venture helped, so I’m leaving my Okuma 7’6” and my 5’0” whatever pole out overnight with the drag on in hopes for the monster catch to swallow it. One MagicNectarYum and one worm per pole. But today I caught one bullhead cat and one gaspergou without hardly trying in no time at all, which is a good sign and potentially evident of this awkward concoction I marinated a week this time may actually work. I’m going with my results today: After all night again, fish wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole but they sure like the smell
