Ok B's, here we go again, for the 7th time.
Sam and I said this post needs to have some mention of the Spoonbill hex and other Voodoo weather hexes Johnny throws at us.
Ok, now on to my fishing day.
My dad and I fished Greers today and I took him to the farthest reaches of Middle Fork. We went to a shoal and that was far enough in the ComboCat.
We were just fishing and not targeting any particular fish. Of course, whenever we got into some White Bass, I would get some texts from the Big Man, but I can't repeat them on here, unless there isn't a filter
Anyway, we caught 30-40 White Bass, Black Bass, Brown Bass, Crappie and even 3 big Hybrids. I did have a monster crappie I saw, but it pulled off.
I spit out the infamous Jimmy Swaggart quote....."Forgive me Sammy, for I have sinned...", when I tied on a Spinnerbait and pounded some buck brush. No fish until my dad swung in a nice 18" largemouth on it.
I just fried the bass and crappie, and am about to enter coma #37 for 2015.
There is a lot of Nasty Weather out there now. I sure hope all of us in Ark are spared and prayers to those in Okla and other areas for the damage they have had.
Creeks will be running your way and the big gizzards will run up those creeks too bad i dont live there......I dam sure wouldn't be posting pictures of food:bruised: unless i was frying fish:slapper: now lets focus....... yep Johnny caught some big gizzard shad today ceremonial grade minimum:angelic: looks like the " war-wagon" will ride again...i got my 4 new B&M 7'6 silver cats rigged and ready and a rippin lips 7'6 with a red 6000 on it clicker set to run...you boys know we will be shallow and NOT in 90ft of water....more will be revealed:wink1:
Yeah, I hear you Sam, and I hope yall bust a bunch in that shallow water, BUT when in 90' foot down here, there are a LOT more 60+ pounders waiting.
And as far as those gizzards running up the creeks, I might just net them out on my land since we are NOW up to 9.8" in the Garrett Hex Prediction between tomorrow and Friday.
Chris are you able to just float the boat off of the trailer where it sits with these rain “showers” you have been getting? Sam I was looking at the boat list for the SeaArk tournament I don’t think I saw your name. You can come back man you don’t have to eat the slaw! Did those gizzards produce?
Sam is most likely fishing the tournament, but when it comes out, I always put my wife's name down in case Sam has JURY duty like last year......:unhappy:
Here we go Johnny at 6am with shad from the evening before
they were all nice ones and cutting size..... on the way we were discussing the wind and the forecast called for 6-mph WNW..... we passed the AM flag standing straight out :: had to be 15 to stand a 8ft flag straightacs_foe: so we regrouped quickly and I PROPOSED to go to secret ramp X i hadnt been there in a year..... so we can sneak around the stumps and islands.... Johnny hit the side scan and i rode the front ..it was rodeo time.....STB...i anchored us with the 25lb box anchor out the front in 8ft of water..... waves 2-3fters....i let out a little extra rope...... we went at it....
Johnny struck 1st with a nice single
you can see the rollers in the background....it let up for about 25 minutes....... o got a couple next no photos i had to hang on up front.... then came the double whammy
Then my rod went down....Johnny's hollering it's pinned.....i grabbed it quick as i could....I was picking up shad that blew off my bait board:adolf: That baby peeled a good 10ft of drag easily on my 6500 orange rocket with 80lb braid and 100lb Hi-seas leader line with a 8/0 TC hook......I turned him and then came the under water stump..It was over we were right by where Jr had his azz handed to him 4 years ago on a big one..... yes i caught a channel cat after thatacs_foe: Johnny broke out the Honey-buns and i rode off in the sun-set:exhausted:
Nice trip boys, and folks, I am mighty proud of Sam for 'ADMITTING' that channel but will he include a picture of him wearing the title belt for channel master???
NOPE.
Now, turn totally to ME.
The TVA is starting to fuss a little bit as they have Wilson dam wide open and Pickwick is FLYING.
So far, the Alabama Garrett says we are up to just shy of 4" of rain.
No fishing for me for a while, but a lot was done at the new house today.
All lights are in and ceiling fans are hooked up. Painters are staining the threads for the stairs tomorrow and will touch up trim.
Still waiting on the cabinet dude:mad1: who is still in "be there tomorrow" mode.
Been waiting since last Monday.
Insulation crew came back and blew in the attic, so they are done.
Jacks for supper......fried chicken, fries and baked beans.

Sam I think that is just a good way to accomplish two things.:mask1: One is if he can't get to the boat he can't have a skunk in the boatacs_foe:. The other is probably gonna be hard on you Sam and I don''t want to be the one to break it to you but maybe, just maybe he is trying to limit your great fishing at Wheeler:eek1:. You can't get to your room in the shop, so no place to stay:mad1:. I'm just saying. Keep your head up and I hope I am wrong but it's not looking good.
No it's not Bo...not at all...now how many REAL cat fisherman would have built a driveway to the boat shed and shop soon as they purchased the ground????? HMMMMMMM:adolf:
Tut Tut gentlemen. The driveway WILL get built in time. Be Coooooool.:cool1:
Today was the same as yesterday and the day before and the day before that....RAIN. But, sunny weather is on the horizon, but not until Sunday.
I worked in our new house today and had the place to myself.
I cut all shelves for closets and got the brackets today at Lowe's. Tomorrow will be priming and painting, then hanging them later this weekend.
I went down below Wheeler dam today to send the other 3 B's a short video of the "trickle" coming out of the gates. 265,000cfs if FLYING.
But I did see a boat (a bass boat:eek1 up around the lock in some calm water by the blow hole. I sure wouldn't have been out there, but that wasn't me in that boat.

Our cabinets FINALLY arrived today, amidst the rain.
I was stationed in the kitchen area with a rag to dry them off as they came off the truck.
You boys better stop worrying about MY driveway to my shop/boat or you might miss something more important like a meal, or even more important, pictures of one of MY meals.
Speaking of, tonight is G's Soul Food Kitchen in Huntsville. Probably fried chicken but who knows if Neck Bones will be on the special.....:eek1::::sleeping1:
Got a call from John Stephens this morning. He and I will finally get back on the water next week when this rain finally stops. We are up to over 7" so far and had a huge gully washer today and more predicted tonight and a big one tomorrow before the front passes. Next week looks nice and DRY.
I texted the big man to send me a picture of the sun, something I haven't seen in over a week, but he hasn't come thru.
Yesterday, our neighbor across the field buried his tractor in the mud while feeding cows. I took my tractor and pulled him out. Well, speaking of food, today he brought me over a pound of fresh breakfast sausage he had made and 4 quarts of frozen okra. Now we're talking.
Fried taters and okra will be on the ticket tomorrow night, with port chops for dessert.
B2 out
Yeah, I just saw that. Wheeler is running 325,000 now.
I know the TVA is on the ball but that is a TON of water, and as I type this, we here in Athens are getting hammered with the LAST line of storms before this week long stuff is over.
Tornadicans over in Mississippi around Columbus where we fished the King Kat Classic one year, and Johnny texted saying Corinth got hit too. That is just 1 1/2 hours west of us, so we were on guard.:ninja:
Had a good talk on the phone with the big man today. He is running double duty while his wife is tending to her daughter. Prayers for them and you my friend.
Jr has concocted Type B Flu and is laid up in bed/couch/futon/chair/Howard Johnson. Sam and I both know what Type "B" stands for, and he sure qualifies.
I am having issues in downloading pics on here, but last night was one for the books at G's. Mutt, you missed it. I had my usual fried chicken but ordered a breast and 2 thighs, but they shorted me a thigh. Realizing it, they stopped my tears by bringing me 2 more thighs later.
None the less, I was full of chicken and it had about the same effects as Sam's homemade Chicken and Dumplings he swam in today.
B2 out
The photo sucks ......but i just came out of the dumpling - delight - 2 day coma never mind i cant load photo's for some reason....MUTTTTTTTT where are you??? Help
I sent Mutt a PM to which he said "they are working on it" so he knows of the uploading debacle.
I told him he is missing out on some really good food pics.
Speaking of, tonight I tried my hand at a new concoction and whipped up some Tater Tot Casserole. STB, it is GOOOOOooooooD.:roflmao: In fact, it will have the same affects as those Dumplings did.:sleeping1:
Pics to follow, but Mutt, it was epic, so you better hurry up the powers-that-be on the uploads.
Cabinets were finally set, cabinet drawers/doors put on and our kitchen Island set in place. Man ole man, it sure makes the house look closer to getting done.
Our threads for the Sam's stairs were set in place. We had them stained a weathered gray stain to match the flooring, but really debated alternating red/white for Sam to follow upstairs to the OU Haven.:mask1:
Tonight is one of T and my date nights, so it's a new Mexican place we haven't been to. We'll see if Montezuma's revenge follows.:eek1::roflmao:
B2 out
Driveway? Well, not so fast my friend......but tomorrow could prove to be a big step in the right direction.
The electricians are supposed to be here and pull wire to the well pump house, which means the shop will FINALLY get hooked up.
First the pics don't load, and now our winky's don't work.
What's up?
Where is mustache man when you need him?
Well, I see the "pictures" are back on board. Thanks Mutt.
Here's a few for the tastebuds.
Earlier this week, I made a new one.......Tater Tot Casserole. It was epic.
2+ pounds of ground beef and a pound of cheese and the tots were good.
Tonight was steak night. T and I met our builder and his wife at Walton's.
The steak was good, not great, but here's a picture of the 3rd basket of hushpups I polished off and as a tribute to my good friend, the big man, I dunked them in butter.
Notice the hot sauce slaw too Sam???
.....and here is our once a month trip to Shaffer's up north of Lawrenceburg, Tn.
The owner tells us the new place in Florence will be ready this spring and is on the water up in Shoal creek.... Now when Sam makes a cameo down here and says "hey, I forgot the pastrami sandwiches" I can chime in with "don't fret my friend....pull rods and let's head to Shaffer's.
Just think, a big brisket platter or those ribs and then get back to fishing???:::bruised::sleeping1:
And speaking of those ribs, yesterday I made a quick switcheroo on T and opted for the full slab while she had brisket.
Either way, that slab, onions and those ranch potatoes about did me in.
Well, here we go again....RAIN. ONLY supposed to get 2" but crap, we don't need anymore.
We did have 3 days of dry weather this week and the house is getting close.
Electrician is pretty much done, complete with Sam's request for the upstairs bedroom of 35W Soft White, Satin Glow LED bulbs with non-glare radiance.:rolleyes1:
The painters are there now finishing up and painting the inside of the doors.
About all that is left is the SEPTIC tank. Had to have an engineer out this week to re-perk it all as the other perk test was for way on the other side of the house and the health dept didn't go for that.
Now we are at their mercy and waiting on them for the permit.
The gas company came Wednesday and buried a 500 gallon LP tank and it was all plumbed yesterday. We don't want to have that "pill" out in the yard so burial was the option.
Sam, do you have any other requests other than the humidifier we installed on the upstairs return to keep your sinus's at optimum operation.:mask1:
Storms tomorrow. I hope we all avoid what happened down south of us in Lee county.
That was tragic.
B2 out
Well we had a storm hit early Saturday 60-mph winds STB
Dang it man.... Thank God no damage.....had a bush blow over...then we had a dang visitor ...Chris come get your bird... no fishing in weeksacs_foe::: step daughter started chemo .....
Good luck on the chemo. We have had our daughter going through it and so far she is doing good. 12 more weeks of chemo and then radiation. I hate cancer:mad1:
Today was the painters LAST day painting the inside except for putting Poly on the stairs tomorrow.
Countertops supposed to be here tomorrow.
Had a good visit on the phone with Sam today. It sure is nice to have friends to listen to you and to let you listen to them. Hang in there Sam, prayers are sent for you, Dixie and your step daughter.
My dad mentioned he would really like to go fishing soon, so I am going to be on it and do everything I can to get him there Wednesday.
Sam knows this, but my dad had polio when he was 15 (before the vaccine) and walked on crutches most of his life. He was the one who started me fishing and never kept us from fishing all we could. The past 15 or so years, he has been in a wheel chair, but I have ways of getting him into my boat, so tomorrow will be "operation find a ramp with handicap dock or one I can use"
Sam also knows this but my dad also has dementia which has been a huge challenge for us all, especially my mom. That is main reason T and I moved them down here to 'Bama Jama with us for T and I to help mom and basically take care of them both.
So......more reason to get my dad out on the water when it crosses his mind.
But in the mean time, we saw on TV last night that tonight was a fund raiser for the Lee County Tornado Victims in SE Alabama at all area Texas Roadhouse's.
So............16oz Rib-Eye for me and 8oz Sirloin for T.
T called ahead and got us a seat for 6pm, and 6pm was exactly when I pulled our Prius into the parking lot. There were tons of people waiting on a table, but our "priority" seating sure paid off.
Since it was pretty busy, I had my fair share of peanuts in the shell and that fresh bread/butter.:exhausted:
Here you go gentlemen.
Well, it's official, but I'll announce that when it is really OFFICIAL....but we are finally moving into our NEW house on Wednesday.
T and I worked all day moving things into the house even though we have the plumbing crew coming tomorrow to trench to the water meter to hook up and Monday will be total hook up day, install all fixtures/toilets/showers.
The septic tank was set and all field lines put in this past Thursday, just before the tornadicans took over around here.
Tomorrow will be one for the books..........I AM FINALLY FISHING.
A day after the King Kat tournament when a 114 pound blue was caught on Wheeler, and I am fishing Wilson for a meat hunt.
I am needing some fillets to feed the crew one last time on Monday. So it will be a 5:00am alarm tomorrow and a quick trip to Secret Spot C to scan their @SS and hopefully put a limit in the boat and head home to clean them.
Our youngest is on spring break from her freshman year at U of Ark and will be coming down here early Monday morning. Little does she know we'll be putting her to work on the big move.:bruised:
Here is a shot of last night's AUCE at Mama Jeans in Florence.
I managed 10 pieces of fish, tons of pups (no butter), white beans and okra.
T worked over Beef Tips and Rice, mac and cheese, pups and strawberry cobbler.
I was in a daze on the drive home.
And pulling into the Lowe's parking lot found a "bright light" shining in our face.:cool1::laugh:
