I've been doing a lot of carp fishing lately, and having great success using a hair rig with plastic corn. I've been thinking that a larger version of a hair rig might work really well for fishing for catfish with live baits. Has anyone tried this?
So I googled bridled bait, and yes there are tons of saltwater guys that are using what is essentially a hair rig. I'm going to try it as soon as it warms up enough that I can catch bluegill again.
Sometimes have problems with hooking through the lips on a bluegill after several long casts the hook holes seem to get bigger and hook falls out or hooks back into the bait. Hooked on top or bottom of fish flies off sometimes in cast. Still trying the wire tie through the front of the eyes of a bluegill cinched down on a kahle hook have yet to lose any bait. I mainly use this for longer cast but seems to work in current well too.
Total exposed hook equals more fish or for me just alot more snags.
