This is to you few shark guys out there... I am in the lookout for a stout boat style rod to pair with a talica 25ii for shark fishing what do you recommend? In either 6' or 6'6 something dedicated to shark or big surf drum. Rather not go custom.

The Slammer 10500s fit well on the Okuma Battle Cat spinning rods. The striper guide on the Battle Cats are really large too, which matches too the size of the 10500s spool size perfectly.

BTW, Okuma still makes the 7ft4in Makaira Spinning rod, I have the 7ft6in 2 piece versions that were DCed.

The Makaira spinning rods will handle the 10500 sized Penns.

Kyle, look up the Okuma Makaira rods, these rods are excellent quality and would be a good match for your Talica.

There is a wide variety of lengths and powers you could go with. Check them out on charkbait's site.

I have two of the Makaira 7ft6in spinning rods that I use for shark fishing and these rods are tough and powerful as it gets.

Life time warrenty too.

Question, is a 9 foot better than a 10 when your reeling in a shark. I get the ten foot will cast further but I also heard the longer rod gives the sharks more leverage. I looked up the okuma longitude. It's 49.99 for a 9ft and 59.99 for a 10. I'm thinking about getting the 9 footer. What do you guys think.

The sweet spot is 6-8ft rod. But it's not like your aiming for 14ft hammers so it isn't all that serious of a thing. The smaller the rod the more leverage you get. To me the only advantage to a longer rod is that it keeps the line at more of an upward angle which helps if your bring it over reefs or multiple sandbars
