Since the last did well, i will start another for 2017. I hope everyone stays safe and breaks PB's in 2017 ! Missouri and Mississippi Rivers for the east side report.
Not trying to start a completion cause I enjoy reading your guys reports from the east but I did start another 2017 thread for the west side.
Good Luck to everyone in the new year and I hope everyone has a great season!
I took a drive to Columbia bottoms today. The ramp and Missouri River in that area looks good, no floating ice. I also went by the dam and everything below the dam looks good but above the dam is all solid ice from bank to bank.

Rob, i think it helps keep stuff relevant to the area in one place. I am completely on board for a east and west thread, i enjoy reading both. Good luck !
I'm hooking on to the boat after work, going tomorrow but not sure where. It will be on the Mo unless someone having luck on the Miss? Got an open seat if you want to go.....
Got the itch to get the boat wet tomorrow. Not sure if I'm gonna hit the MS at Flamm City or try the warm water at Baldwin Illinois. 65 degree high tomorrow? - yep, it's time to fish!
I went out yesterday on the Mo, we tried several of the deeper holes but couldn't get them to bite. I guess I don't have the winter fishing figured out yet.
Got on the water today, but got skunked. First time out this year so I wanted to do a shake-down cruise before hitting 'big' waster. Tried to put in at Flamm City (Meramec River) but there wasn't enough water at the ramp. Headed east to New Athens & tried the Kaskaskia River. Current is up which is usually a good thing (except there was lots of trash floating). Thought it was gonna be a good day when I got plenty of shad on the first throw of the net. I hit all my usual hot spots & deep holes with nary a nibble. Water temp was 50 degrees.
OK Kevin. I didn't know who that was but I thought it was somebody I knew. I took advantage of a last minute opportunity to fish and I've been wanting to get to CB all winter so I did. I had some skip jack too and didn't do any good with that. I netted a mooneye and caught two with that. A 13.7 and a 14.5. Did you net your shad from the Mississippi or did you have some already? I didn't try very long but didn't get any.
Went to the MO Saturday with Greg and my pops. We ended up with 5 fish. Dad caught his PB blue (~20ish) and I got to break in my new (huge) Big Game net, so it was an overall success! Caught on both shad and skips, with them favoring shad I'd say. The fish really shut off after 11-12 or so for us. Caught anywhere from very shallow to deep.
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who shares their knowledge here on USCA. Last year was an amazing fishing year for me as a bank fisherman. I have never posted before but I wanted to show my results. Thanks to folks on here, local fisherman, and river rats that I've picked the brains of, I learned a ton about technique, presentation, tackle, water\weather conditions, ethics, and conservation. I have never fished from a boat but I also follow info on here pertaining to sonar, anchor fishing, trolling, back bouncing, and boat safety. For when i get the opportunity to try it of course. I live in saint charles city and fish all over the stl area for many species, catfish being my favorite. Here are pics of my largest 3 fish last year an 84, 52, and 38lb blues. All caught on rod\reel and released unharmed. Thanks again
Congratulation on your great catches, Don. I'm looking forward to seeing more post in the future. Thanks for the C P R attitude. Keep it up.
